THE SERIES
The game marks the 47th all-time meeting between the two programs, dating back to the first contest in 1982 - a 67-50 Smith victory. The Beavers lead 36-10 and have won 15 of the last 17 games between the teams since 2010.

LAST MEETING
Babson used a 25-2 first-half run en route to a 75-61 victory over visiting Smith College in NEWMAC action on January 9, 2016. First year Lauren Bondi (Burnaby, BC, Can./Notre Dame Secondary) led all scorers with 21 points, including four three-pointers while sophomore Samantha Alakai (Pukalani, Hawaii/Punahou School) added 13 points off the bench. 

LAST SMITH WIN
Paulina Solis finished with 17 points and Mandy Castro (San Diego, Calif./Poway) tallied 10 of her 14 points in the first half as the top-seeded Pioneers defeated fifth-seeded Babson, 64-58, in a NEWMAC Tournament semifinal on March 1, 2014, in Northampton. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
Babson (3-1, 1-0 NEWMAC) edged Wheaton, 60-56, to win its conference opener for the 12th time in the last 13 years on Wednesday. Senior guard Giovanna Pickering finished with 17 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals, while junior forward Brenna LeGacy added 13 points and five boards for the Beavers. Senior forward Jennifer Narlee, who was selected as the NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, finished with season highs of 13 rebounds and seven steals to go along with seven points and one blocked shot in the win over Wheaton. Pickering (19.5 pts, 7.8 reb, 4.5 ast, 2.3 stl) leads the league in scoring, LeGacy (13.3 pts, 5.8 reb) is shooting 57.9 percent and Narlee ranks first in the NEWMAC in rebounds (11.0). The Green and White ranks second nationally in rebounds per game (55.8) and is third in Division III in rebounding margin ( 21.3). Babson was picked to finish second in the Preseason Coaches' Poll.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Smith (4-1, 1-0 NEWMAC) posted a dominating 77-53 victory over Coast Guard Wednesday evening to win its NEWMAC opener for the first time since the 2013-14 season. Sophomore guard Erin Hanley (San Francisco, Calif./St. Ignatius College Prepatory) scored a career-high 19 points and added three rebounds while sophomore forward Kennedy Guest-Pritchett (Fairburn, Ga./The Lawrenceville School) finished with 16 points and nine boards. Guest-Pritchett ranks in the top-5 of the NEWMAC in points per game (14.6) and rebounds per game (9.6). The Pioneers have the league's fourth-highest scoring offense averaging 67.0 points per game while the defense allows 42.0 points per contest. Smith was selected to finish fifth in the NEWMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
