TURNING POINT
The Beavers used a 7-0 run late in the fourth quarter to take a 67-61 lead with 3:14 remaining in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Both teams exchanged baskets early on as no one claimed a lead larger than two midway through the first quarter.
  • A three-point play from Smith junior Amanda Barriscale (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais) sparked a 7-0 run late in the opening quarter as the Pioneers claimed a 19-13 lead at the end of the first.
  • After a jumper from Jade Chihara (Lahaina, Hawaii/Lahainaluna) to open the second quarter, the Beavers went on a 5-0 run to close the gap to 21-18 with 8:23 on the clock.
  • Another set of free throws from Barriscale with under 10 seconds in the half allowed Smith to come within one (30-29) at halftime.
  • A three-pointer from Mandy Castro (San Diego, Calif./Poway) at the 4:57 mark was the last points Smith would score as Babson went on a 11-2 run in the third, giving the Beavers their largest lead of the game to that point, 56-45.
  • A three-point play from Hanley followed by two points from Meghan Holland (Atherton, Calif./Sacred Heart Prepatory) trimmed the visitors' lead to one, 60-59, with 5:03 left in regulation.
  • Guest-Pritchett's offensive rebound and put-back ignited the home crowd and gave Smith their first lead since the first quarter, 61-60.
  • Babson quickly responded on a 7-0 run and Tea Spellacy put the nail in the coffin as the sophomore guard drained a three-pointer with 1:02 on the clock to give the Beavers a 70-62 lead.
  • The Beavers converted free-throws late and went on for the 74-65 final.
