NEWPORT, R.I. - In its first ever visit to Newport, Rhode Island for women's basketball, Smith College defeated Salve Regina University, 66-25, in non-league action at the Rodgers Recreation Center. Sophomore Kennedy Guest-Pritchett (Fairburn, Ga./The Lawrenceville School) led all players with a double-double (15 points, 16 rebounds) as the Pioneers improved to 7-3 overall and 5-0 on the road. Salve Regina (2-8) was led by senior Sam Gisonni with 11 points and eight rebounds in a reserve role.

The Pioneers win the first ever meeting in women's basketball between the two schools.
Three Stars of the Game
- Guest-Pritchett led all players with a double-double of 15 points and 16 rebounds on 7-of-12 from the floor.
- Smith junior Meghan Holland (Atherton, Calif./Sacred Heart Prepatory) came off the bench to contribute 10 points on four of six from the floor including two-for-two behind the 3-point arc.
- Gisonni set career highs in both points (11) and rebounds (eight) while playing 27 minutes off the bench for the Seahawks.
Stat of the Game
Smith held Salve Regina to under 20 percent shooting from the field (10-56; 17.9 percent) and the Seahawks had their lowest offensive output in the history of the program.
Turning Point
After Salve Regina held Smith to seven points in the second quarter, the Pioneers opened the second half on a 7-0 run in the first 2:55 of the period.

- The Pioneers, who earlier this season scored their most points in program history (111, in an overtime win at Westfield State), held the Seahawks to their lowest offensive output ever (25). Salve Regina's most recent game before today saw a season-high 88 points in a Seahawk victory at Fisher College (Dec. 12).
- Smith is undefeated on the road in 2016-17 (5-0) while Salve Regina has yet to win at the Rodgers Recreation Center this season (0-4).
- The 41-point defeat was the largest ever for the Seahawks at home, and their largest since Nov. 22, 1997, at The College of New Jersey (87-31).
