Last Meeting

Four different players scored in Smith's 15-8 loss to Western New England on March 7, 2015. Goalkeeper Sarah Price (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) made a career-high 15 saves in 47 minutes between the pipes, while Meredith Britton (Old Lyme, Conn./Lyme-Old Lyme) notched her first collegiate save in 13 minutes of action.

The Series
Western New England leads the all-time series 13-2 and have won 13 straight. Smith's last win came on April 16, 2001.

The Golden Bears
Western New England (1-1) looks to win back-to-back games after their 10-9 victory over Westfield State Tuesday. In that game, senior Taylor Scialdone scored the go-ahead goal with 2:22 remaining. Scialdone led the way for the Golden Bears with a team-high five points (4 goals, one assist), while classmates Tori Cirocco and Brooke Kumnick combined for five goals and two assists. WNE is coming off one of the most successful campaigns in program history last spring, as the Golden Bears (16-3, 8-0 CCC) captured their first Commonwealth Coast Conference title before earning the team's sixth NCAA Tournament appearance. Western New England lost their leading scorer to graduation, but returns several talented offensive players, including Scialdone and Brooke Kumnick, who combined for 158 points (85 goas, 73 assists) in 2015.

The Pioneers
Smith (0-1) looks to notch their first win of 2016 after their 15-8 loss to UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday. In that game, sophomore Caroline Myran (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends School) registered three goals, while goalkeeper Meredith Britton (Old Lyme, Conn./Lyme-Old Lyme) made 11 saves in net. Senior Ray Silveria (Dunstable, Mass./Groton-Dunstable) is just 15 goals away from 100 in her career.
