Last Meeting
Last season's 16-10 win over Coast Guard on April 18 snapped a seven game losing streak for the Pioneers and gave them their first conference win since April 10, 2012. Three Smith student-athletes recorded hat tricks.Â

This is just the second meeting between these two programs as 2015 was Coast Guard's inaugural season.Â
The Bears
Coast Guard (2-12, 0-7) aims to win their first NEWMAC game in program history Saturday against Smith. In their last outing, the Bears were shutout by Babson, 18-0. In the loss, sophomore goalkeeper Angel Fay made six saves. Coast Guard is led by Dari McKenna's 15 goals. The Bears average 4.00 goals and 11.8 shots per game. Head Coach Ruth Ness is in her second season at the helm of the Bears, who were picked to finish eighth in the Preseason Coaches' Poll.Â
The Pioneers
Smith (4-10, 0-6) looks to beat Coast Guard for the second consecutive season and win their first conference game of 2016. Last time out, the Pioneers fell to Springfield 12-4. In that game,
Ray Silveria (Dunstable, Mass./Groton-Dunstable),
Julia Hamilton (Williamstown, Mass./Deerfield Academy) and
Emily Biggs (Florence, Mass./Northampton) all recorded goals for Smith, while goalkeeper
Sarah Price (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) made 12 stops. Hamilton leads the NEWMAC in points (53) and is second in goals (42), while Silveria is fifth in points (49) and has recorded a point in 21 consecutive games.Â
