Erin Hanley (San Francisco, Calif./St. Ignatius College Prepatory) poured in a career-high 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting to help the Smith College basketball team to a 77-53 win over the Bears in the NEWMAC opener for both teams on November 30, 2016.

Lauren Bondi (Burnaby, BC, Can./Notre Dame Secondary) scored a career-high 23 points in the Pioneers' 75-65 loss on January 27, 2016.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Coast Guard (2-11, 0-5) looks for their first conference win of the season Saturday against the Pioneers. The Bears have lost 11-straight and are coming off a 68-56 defeat at the hands of Babson College Tuesday night. In that game, Coast Guard had their best shooting night of the season hitting 21 of 44 from the field (47.7 percent) while making a season-high 50 percent from 3-point range (9-18). Sophomore Micaela Martinelli had a career-high 16 points and a team-high six rebounds as she hit 5 of 8 from 3-point range while junior Jill Bray finished with 15 points. Gill Gerton leads the Bears averaging 11.2 points per game and 7.9 boards per contest. Coast Guard averages 54.7 points per game and was picked to finish sixth in the NEWMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.Â

Smith is the third-highest scoring team in the NEWMAC averaging 69.6 points per contest and was selected to finish fifth in the NEWMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
