Comeback Falls Short in Five Set Loss to Elms

The Smith College volleyball team suffered a five-set loss to Elms College Thursday evening in non-conference action. The Pioneers trailed 0-2 before winning sets three and four to force a deciding fifth set. Smith drops to 7-13, while the Blazers improve to 12-9.

SMITH HIGHLIGHTS
  • First-year Amy Hagen (Owings, Md./Northern) paced the Pioneers with a career-high 18 kills, hitting .220 for the match wile also adding 17 digs.
  • Senior Elizabeth Peay (Lebanon, Conn./Lyman Memorial) totaled 13 kills and three total blocks.
  • Sophomore setter Jody Huang (Cranston, R.I./Cranston)e recorded a career-high 40 assists.
  • Sakura Tamaki (New York, N.Y./Fiorello H. LaGuardia) and Helena Wiatrowski (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) each finished with double digit digs.
