Volleyball Earns Wins over Lasell, St. Joseph (Conn.) on Saturday

The Smith College volleyball team earned a sweep over St. Joseph and Lasell College Saturday afternoon in non-conference action Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers won both matches by a 3-1 score. 

SMITH HIGHLIGHTS
  • First-year Caleigh Johnson put forth an all around effort of six kills, eight service aces, and six blocks. 
  • Senior Elizabeth Peay (Lebanon, Conn./Lyman Memorial) totaled 11 kills and six blocks.
  • Sophomore setter Jody Huang (Cranston, R.I./Cranston) registered 28 assists.
  • Helena Wiatrowski (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) each finished with 11 digs.

SMITH HIGHLIGHTS
  • First-year Caleigh Johnson (Georgetown, Tex./St. Dominic Savio Catholic) paced the Pioneers with 11 kills, hitting .458 for the match to go along with four blocks and two service aces. 
  • Rookie Amy Hagen (Owings, Md./Northern) totaled a match-high 13 kills and added nine digs.
  • Sophomore setter Jody Huang (Cranston, R.I./Cranston)e recorded 32 assists.
  • Senior libero.Sakura Tamaki (New York, N.Y./Fiorello H. LaGuardia) led the defensive effort with 28 digs.
