The Smith College volleyball team stole the first set in a 3-1 defeat to Colby College Friday evening in the opening game of the 26th Annual Volleyball Hall of Fame Tournament. With the win, the Mules improve to 4-13, while the Pioneers drop to 9-15.

SMITH HIGHLIGHTS

• First year Amy Hagen (Owings, Md./Northern) was just shy of a double-double with nine kills and nine digs.
• Firs year Caleigh Johnson (Georgetown, Tex./St. Dominic Savio Catholic) finished with eight kills, hitting .250 to go along with four total blocks and three digs.
• Sophomore Kimani Freeman (Newark, N.J./Montclair Kimberly Academy) totaled 26 assists.
• Senior Sakura Tamaki (New York, N.Y./Fiorello H. LaGuardia) recorded 14 digs in the loss.
