SMITH HIGHLIGHTS
  • Senior forward Amanda Barriscale (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais) went 5-of-6 from the floor to post a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Junior forward Kennedy Guest-Pritchett (Fairburn, Ga./The Lawrenceville School) scored a game-high 15 points to go along with nine boards.
  • Senior forward Emma Seymour (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) recorded a career-high 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting.
  • Lauren Bondi (Burnaby, BC, Can./Notre Dame Secondary) finished with 10 points, while Paige Marquez (San Francisco, Calif./St. Ignatius College Prepatory) added eight points, five assists, and four rebounds.
  • Senior guard Meghan Holland (Atherton, Calif./Sacred Heart Prepatory) dished out a game-high nine assists.

PINE MANOR HIGHLIGHTS
  • Erica Jones came off the bench to lead the Gators with 14 points.
  • Kayleigh Merrell and Arielle Harrell each hauled in six rebounds.

 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Pioneers opened up with a 21-7 lead after the first quarter behind six points from Guest-Pritchett.
  • In the second, Smith limited the Gators to just four points as the home team exploded for 34 points. Junior guard Stephanie Foukaris (Nicosia, Cyprus/Pascal English School Nicosia) got things started when she drained a three-pointer followed by a layup for a 5-0 run of her own. Sydney Koh (Seattle, Wash./Lakeside) closed out the impressive quarter for Smith with a trey to make the score 55-11 going into the break.
  • Smith built their largest lead of the game, 70-20, at the end of the third period when Nikkiah Snoddy (Stow, Mass./Nashoba Regional) connected on a free throw attempt.
  • The Gators put forth their best effort of the night in the final quarter, outscoring the Pioneers 18-17 behind 12 points from Jones.

GAME NOTES
  • Elle Jo Whalen (Woodinville, Wash./Woodinville High School) scored her first collegiate points on a jumper at 4:49 in the third quarter. She finished with three points in 17 minutes of action.
  • With 38 seconds left in the game, Emma Zener (Fullerton, Calif./La Habra High School) recorded her first collegiate three-pointer.
  • The Pioneers out-rebounded Pine Manor 54-37.
  • Smith shot 48.5 percent from the field and 38.9 percent from beyond the arc.
  • The Pioneers are now 2-2 against the Gators.
  • Smith improves to 9-2 in season openers under head coach Lynn Hersey.

UP NEXT
The Pioneers host the 25th Annual Tyler Tip-Off Tournament this weekend. Smith will play Southern Maine Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and Bates Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
