NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Smith College basketball will host the 25th Annual Tyler Tip-Off Tournament this Saturday and Sunday, November 18 and 19. The tournament this year features Bates College, Castleton University, Southern Maine and the Pioneers.

The Tyler Tip-Off was named in 1992 to honor the memory of one of Smith's brightest scholar athletes. Kim Tyler was a standout basketball player, a successful student, and a wonderful teammate. Her passing during her first year at Smith was a sad moment in Smith basketball history but an occurrence that has since sparked an outpouring of love and remembrance for Kim and her family.

Smith
- The Pioneers opened the 2017-18 season with an 87-38 win over Pine Manor Wednesday night

Southern Maine
- The Huskies and Pioneers meet for the first time since Smith made history with their 80-58 win over No. 8 USM in the opening round of the 2013 NCAA DIII Championship

- Junior Alexa Srolovitz finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, and two steals
- Chantel Eells was named to the 2017 Little East Conference All-Rookie team after
averaging 6.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.0 blocked shots per game in her first season.
Bates
- Smith and Bates match up for the third time with the last meeting having been during the 1993 season.
- The Bobcats look to replace Allie Coppola, the program's all-time leading rebounded and three-time captain.
- The team is composed of five seniors, one junior, two sophomores and six first-year players
- Nina Davenport returns with a career average of 14.5 ppg and is the team's leading returning rebounded
- Senior guard Lyse Henshaw averaged 6.9 points last season is dangerous from the 3-pt line
