NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Smith College volleyball team shouldered a 3-1 loss to Coast Guard Academy Tuesday evening in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match. The Bears won by set scores of 26-24, 25-17, 25-27, 25-13 to improve to 16-8 overall and 4-5 in the NEWMAC while Smith drops to 3-17 overall and 0-8 in conference play.
NOTABLE
- Sophomore Amy Hagen (Owings, Md./Northern) totaled a team-high 11 kills and added nine digs.
- Junior Kimani Freeman (Newark, N.J./Montclair Kimberly Academy) finished with 20 assists, five aces, and two blocks.
- Junior Jody Huang (Cranston, R.I./Cranston) led the defensive effort with 18 digs.
- Coast Guard improves to 9-0 all-time against the Pioneers.
UP NEXT
Smith hosts the 27th Annual Volleyball Hall of Fame Tournament this upcoming weekend. The Pioneers open up play against Bates on Friday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m.
