MINNEOLA, Fla. - Senior pitcher
Rowan Turner (Kansas City, Kan./Shawnee Mission East) belted her first home run of the season in Smith's 15-7 five inning loss to Endicott College Monday afternoon at the Minneola Athletic Complex.
The Pioneers struck first in the opening inning when
Elodie Townsend (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais) drove in
Stephanie Konas (Glenmont, N.Y./Bethlehem Central). Smith doubled their lead on Makena Wagner's single to left field which scored
Tyler Feeney (Merrimac, Mass./Pentucket Regional).Â
Endicott scored runs in every inning - with a high of four in the third frame - while every student-athlete in the starting lineup notched at least one hit.
Konas,
Alyssa Pioggia (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow), and
Emma Kraus (Wakefield, Mass./Wakefield/Dupon-Kraus Homeschool) each recorded doubles at the plate. Sophomore
Makena Wagner (Hilo, Hawaii/Kamehameha Schools Hawaii) finished 2-for-3 with one RBI.
In the circle, Turner allowed 10 runs on 10 hits. Junior
Jessica Flohr (Foster City, Calif./Crystal Springs Uplands School)Â pitched 2.0 innings of relief, allowing five runs on seven hits with one strikeout.
GAME NOTES
- The Pioneers are 1-3 all-time against the Gulls.
- Turner's home run is the fourth of her career.
UP NEXT
The Pioneers will take Tuesday off and return to action Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. against Bowdoin College followed by a 7:00 p.m. tilt with Gordon College.
