Kayleigh Obe struck first for the Beavers, knocking a home run over right field for the first run of the game. The Pioneers evened the score in the second inning when Emma Kraus (Wakefield, Mass./Wakefield/Dupon-Kraus Homeschool)' single scored Makena Wagner (Hilo, Hawaii/Kamehameha Schools Hawaii). Three runs in the fifth for Smith proved to be enough as the Pioneers went on for the 5-2 win.

At the plate, sophomore Megan McGrath (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) went 2-for-3 with two hits and two RBI.

Senior pitcher Rowan Turner (Kansas City, Kan./Shawnee Mission East) got the win, allowing four runs on eight hits with three strikeouts.
