Volleyball Concludes Play at Gordon Invitational

WENHAM, Mass. - The Smith College volleyball team finished day two of the Gordon College Invitational with 3-0 losses to Framingham State University and Neumann University. Against FSU, the Pioneers fell 25-23, 26-24, and 25-13. In the final match of the day, Smith was upended 25-15, 25-14, and 25-16.

Notables
  • Sophomore Caleigh Johnson (Georgetown, Tex./St. Dominic Savio Catholic) posted a team-high nine kills to go along with one block.
  • Junior Kimani Freeman (Newark, N.J./Montclair Kimberly Academy) finished with 16 assists while Jody Huang (Cranston, R.I./Cranston) totaled 12 digs.

Notables
  • First-year Anna Lynch (Lenox, Mass./Lenox Memorial) set a career-high with 30 digs, while Freeman contributed 13 assists and two blocks. 
  • Johnson added nine kills for the second consecutive match and sophomore Claire Cicchetti (Menlo Park, Calif./Woodside) posted four aces.

Smith returns to action on Friday, September 7 for their home opener against Amherst College at 7:00 p.m.
