NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Smith College volleyball team fell in three sets (25-19, 25-10, 25-14) to WPI Tuesday evening in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) volleyball action. With the win, the Engineers improve 9-2 overall and 1-2 in NEWMAC play, while the Pioneers move to 1-9, 0-2.
NOTABLE
- Sophomore Caleigh Johnson (Georgetown, Tex./St. Dominic Savio Catholic) led the offensive attack finishing with 11 kills and two blocks.
- Junior Kimani Freeman (Newark, N.J./Montclair Kimberly Academy), who returned from a four-game absence due to injury, registered 14 assists.
- First year Anna Lynch (Lenox, Mass./Lenox Memorial) added seven digs for the Pioneers.
- The Pioneers move to 26-9 all-time against the Engineers.
UP NEXT
Smith returns to the court for a tri-match at Babson College Saturday, September 22. The Pioneers will play the host Beavers at 11:00 a.m. followed by a meeting with Keene State at 1:00 p.m.
