HOW IT HAPPENED
Smith jumped out to a 13-6 lead thanks to 11 points from Guest-Pritchett. The Pioneers lead grew to as large as 10 (20-10) points on a jumper from sophomore
Elle Jo Whalen (Woodinville, Wash./Woodinville High School) to close out the quarter.
The home squad maintained a comfortable double-digit lead for most of the second quarter before a bucket from first-year
Katelyn Pickunka (Westhampton, Mass./Hampshire) gave Smith their largest lead of the game up until that point at 14 points, 30-16. Gabby Martin's layup with just over a minute to play in the half made the score 30-18 going into the break.
Williams began to chip away at Smith's 19-point lead and closed the gap to nine points by the end of the quarter.
The Ephs continued to pressure the Pioneers but Smith would hold a comfortable lead throughout the final period.
