Field Hockey Drops 2-0 Decision to No. 10 Babson

BABSON PARK, MASS. - In the final regular game of the season, No. 10 Babson came away with a 2-0 victory over Smith College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play Saturday morning. 

The win lifted the Beaver's record to 16-3 and 8-0 in conference action, while the Pioneers fell to 8-10, 4-4.

  • 8:05 - SMI 0, BAB 1 - Berit Sharrow, assisted by Meara Hanyon
  • 56:51 - SMI BAB 2 - Andrea Marguerite, assisted by Berit Sharrow 

Highlights
  • Babson began the game with an aggressive offense recording four shots and three corners 
  • The Beavers converted their second corner into a scoring opportunity as Hanyon sent a pass to Sharrow on the left side who struck the ball into the net for the 1-0 lead
  • In a scoreless second quarter, Smith goalkeeper Rory Harper (Wayne, Penn./Radnor) posted three saves with one save in the remaining seven seconds of the half
  • The Pioneers defense played aggressively in the third period, preventing any shots on goal after three penalty corners for Babson 
  • Nearing the end of the game, Babson secured the insurance goal after Sharrow sent the ball to Marguerite who found the back of the net 
  • Babson held a 15-4 advantage in shots and a 13-5 edge in corners in the game
  • Harper recorded seven saves for the Pioneers
