NEW LONDON, CONN. - The Smith College field hockey team fell 4-1 to Connecticut College on Tuesday evening. The Camels improve to 2-3 overall, while the Pioneers drop to 2-5 on the season.

How it Happened
- For most of the first quarter, both teams kept each other out of the net as Smith goalkeeper Rory Harper (Wayne, Penn./Radnor) made three saves.
- With just 56 seconds remaining in the first quarter, Connecticut College scored their first goal as Quinn netted a pass from Jacobsen.
- The Camels started off with an aggressive offense in the second quarter, however the Pioneers brought a strong defense as Harper posted three saves in a five-minute span and Smith was able to prevent a shot from Connecticut after being granted a corner.
- With just over two minutes on the clock in the second, Smith scored their only goal of the evening as Laura Dreher (Durham, N.H./Durham) took a shot from the right side of the circle where Karlie Guimond (Hatfield, Mass./Smith Academy) tipped it in, bouncing off of the crossbar into the goal.
- Early on in the second half, the Camels attempted a shot where the Pioneers' Coco Cornell (Arlington, Tex./The Oakridge School) (Arlington, Texas/) recorded a defensive save.
- Harper posted three more saves to result in a scoreless third quarter.
- About a minute and a half into the final quarter, Connecticut notched their second goal of the evening as McGann recorded a goal after a pass from Quinn.
- Minutes later the Camels produced another goal as Quinn found the back of the net after a pass from Krahmer.
- With about six minutes remaining, McGann scored an unassisted goal until the clock expired with Connecticut claiming the win 4-1.
