Box Score WELLESLEY - The nationally-ranked No. 5 Smith College basketball team finished off a perfect conference slate, defeating Wellesley, 74-31, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest Saturday afternoon.
With the win, Smith improves to 24-1 overall and 10-0 in NEWMAC play. The Pioneers have won 18 consecutive games and completed an undefeated conference mark for the second-straight season. Wellesley's season comes to an end at 8-16, 2-8.
By the Numbers
- Morgan Morrison (Detroit, Mi/Detroit Country Day) posted her 10th double-double of the year, finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds
- Ally Yamada (Seal Beach, Calif./Fairmont Prep Academy) poured in 13 points off the bench, while Dashelle Gleissner (Los Angeles, Calif./Serra) led the team with six assists
- Ashlyn Bohn (Tucson, Ariz./Tucson High Magnet School) and Selam Maher (Hopkins, MN/St. Louis Park) each contributed eight points off the bench
- The Pioneers shot 43.8% (28-of-64) from the field, 42.9% (12-of-28) from three-point range and 75.0% (6-of-8) from the free throw line
- Wellesley shot 23.0% (14-of-61) from the floor, 20% (2-of-10) from long distance and 50% (1-of-2) from the free throw line

Smith now sets its sights on the upcoming NEWMAC Postseason Tournament. The Pioneers are the two-time defending NEWMAC champions and have earned the No. 1 seed and home-court advantage throughout the entire tournament. Smith will host the winner of the No. 4 vs No. 5 seed game in a semifinal matchup on Friday, February 24 at 7:00pm inside Ainsworth Gymnasium.
