NORTHAMPTON - The Smith College lacrosse team left no doubt in its 18-2 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology Monday afternoon. The Pioneers improve to 2-0 on the year, while WIT begins the season 0-1. 

How it Happened

• Smith opened the scoring when Sadie Tschider (Piedmont, CA/Piedmont) found the back of the net after 1:58 elapsed. Reese Gittelman (Ocean City, Md./Worcester Preparatory) increased the Pioneers' lead on a feed from Tschider followed by an unassisted tally by Jennie Arancio (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge). Smith put three more on the board in the first to go up 6-0 after one.
• Six more goals by Smith in the second sent the two teams into the break with the Pioneers ahead 12-0
• A four-goal third period maade it 16-0 before Maggie McCann scored back-to-back goals for the Leopards in the fourth. Yasmin Grant (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) notched her first collegiate goal to round out the scoring and the 18-2 final

• Gittelman finished with four goals, five assists and seven ground balls to pace the Pioneers
• Tschider and Jennie Arancio (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) each totaled three goals
• Brooke Testa (Pittstown, NJ/Delaware Valley), Paige Rocha (Melrose, MA/Melrose) and Shannon Houtenville (East Windsor, NJ/Highstown) all appeared in goal for Smith
