WILLIAMSTOWN - The Smith College lacrosse team was upended by Williams College, 19-4, Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers drop to 2-2 overall, while the Ephs are now 1-1. 

By the Numbers

• Caroline Sanders (Trabuco, CA/Santa Margarita) scored twice for Smith, while Gia Arancio (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) and Sadie Tschider (Piedmont, CA/Piedmont) each added a goal
• Brooke Testa (Pittstown, NJ/Delaware Valley) made 13 saves in 45 minutes of action and Shannon Houtenville (East Windsor, NJ/Highstown) stopped three in the final quarter

Game Highlights

• The Ephs opened the scoring four minutes into the game and needed a few seconds to double their lead. Claudia Russell doubled her goal tally and gave the Ephs a 3-0 lead with 6 minutes left in the first quarter. The Pioneers got one back after Gia Arancio (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) scored and was assisted by Jennie Arancio (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) but Ephs a 5-1 lead going into the second period.
• Williams outscored Smith 4-3 in the second to hold a 9-4 edge at the half
• The Ephs would go on to find the back of the net 11 times in the second half for the 19-4 final
