Lacrosse Powers Past Clark, 22-3

NORTHAMPTON - Gia Arancio (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) scored a season-best five goals and added an assist as the Smith College lacrosse team cruised past Clark University, 22-3, Wednesday evening in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action.

Game Highlights
  • The Pioneers generated seven goals in the first quarter and added an opening tally in the second for an 8-0 advantage with 12:51 remaining in the half
  • Clark ended the shutout with back-to-back scores in the second but Smith responded with five goals to end the half, making it 13-2
  • Nine unanswered goals from Smith in the third and fourth put the Pioneers ahead 22-2 before Clark scored the final goal of the game with 1:46 on the clock

  • Sydney Havlick (Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta Valley) tallied four goals while Jennie Arancio (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) and Caroline Sanders (Trabuco, CA/Santa Margarita) each finished with three goals
