Swim and Dive Sits Eighth After Day 3 at NEWMAC Championships

CAMBRIDGE - The Smith College swimming and diving team took part in day three of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships hosted by MIT. 

MIT leads the field with 1028.5 points. Coast Guard is second with 513 points. Wheaton sits third (486), followed by Springfield (485.5) in fourth, Wellesley in fifth (414), and WPI in sixth (317). Wrapping up the field is Babson in seventh (196), Smith in eighth (192), Mount Holyoke in ninth (173) and Clark 10th (154). 

Highlights
  • Caroline Kolmodin (Mountainside, NJ/Academy for Allied Health Sciences Union County) earned the highest individual finish of the night for the Pioneers with a 12th place finish in the 200 free (1:57.75)
  • The 400 IM saw Grace Magee (Portland, OR/Oregon Episcopal) touch the wall 14th in 4:46.44
  • Maddie Milla (Nyack, NY/Nyack) placed 18th in the 100 fly, Abby McIlriath was 16th in the 100 breast and Abby Caputo was 19th in the 100 back
  • The 200 medley relay team of Magee, McIlraith, Caputo, and Kolmodin clocked in an eighth place time of 1:51.42
Up Next
The final day of action in the NEWMAC Championships is up ahead for the Pioneers with the prelims beginning at 10 am followed by the finals at 6 pm. Day four features the 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, Women's 3-meter Dive and will round out with the 400 Free Relay to end the weekend of competition.
