ROCHESTER, NY - The Smith College lacrosse team rallied late but was unable to overcome a five goal deficit in its 10-7 loss to Nazareth University Sunday afternoon. With the victory, the Golden Flyers improve to 3-4 overall. With the loss, Smith drops to 4-4 overall.
By the Numbers
- Tschider finished with four goals, while Bella DeAngelo (Portsmouth, RI/Moses Brown School), Jordan Hoffman (Portland, OR/Jesuit) and Emma Buttterick each scored one
- Jennie Arancio (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) added four ground balls, three caused turnovers, and two draw controls
- Brooke Testa (Pittstown, NJ/Delaware Valley) made two saves in the loss, while Shannon Houtenville (East Windsor, NJ/Highstown) stopped eight shots in 30 minutes of action
Game Highlights
- After allowing the Pioneers to score twice in the opening minutes of the first quarter, Nazareth responded and scored five of the final six goals of the stanza to take a 5-3 lead going into the second.
- Smith reclaimed the lead, 3-2, but the Golden Flyers went on a 7-1 run to hold a 9-4 advantage with 13:31 left in the third.
- Tschider found the back of the net twice and DeAgelo added tallied one to bring Smith to within 9-7 with 12:47 left in the game. Less than a minute later, Nazareth went up 10-7 and the two teams remained scoreless for the remainder of the game.
