WELLESLEY - Gia Arancio (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) and Sadie Tschider (Piedmont, CA/Piedmont) combined to score nine goals in Smith's 20-5 win over Wellesley College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Wedneday evening at Butler stadium. 

By the Numbers

• Gia Arancio (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) put up seven points (five goals, two assists) to lead the Pioneers
• Caroline Sanders (Orange County, CA/Santa Margarita Catholic) scored three goals with assists, while Sadie Tschider (Piedmont, CA/Piedmont) scored four goals to lead Smith past the Blue
• Bella DeAngelo (Portsmouth, RI/Moses Brown School) won six draw controls and Shannon Houtenville (East Windsor, NJ/Highstown) stopped a pair of shots
• Smith outshot Wellesley 45-12 and won the draw control battle 20-8

Game Highlights

• Sanders and Wellesley's Gabrielle Shell exchanged goals to open the contest before Smith went on a 6-0 first quarter run to take a 7-1 advantage heading into the second quarter
• Sanders recorded a first quarter hat trick, scoring the first Smith goal at 13:25 and the final Smith goal of the quarter at 1:47
• Smith led 11-4 at halftime and scored all six goals of the third quarter
• The Pioneers tacked on two more in the fourth before a goal from Wellesley at the 6:49 mark stopped the run
• Maya Wang (Lafayette, CA/Acalanes) scored her fifth of the year to end the scoring for Smith
