NORTHAMPTON - Wheaton's Avonlea LeBeau scored in overtime to cap a comeback for the Lyons in handing Smith a 12-11 loss on Senior Day Saturday. Smith led by as many as many as two goals late in the fourth period before Wheaton rallied to tie the game with 17 seconds left in regulation before winning it in the extra session.
Smith falls to 7-7 overall and 4-4 in league games. Wheaton moves to 8-6 on the year with a 5-2 mark in the NEWMAC.

- Caroline Sanders (Orange County, CA/Santa Margarita Catholic) and Kyra Hawk (San Jose, CA/The Harker School) combined to score four goals for the Pioneers

- Smith and Wheaton exchanged goals to start the game Smith went on a 4-0 run on tallies by Sanders, Bella DeAngelo (Portsmouth, RI/Moses Brown School), Gia Arancio (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge), and Hawk. Jessica Chamberlain found the back of the net with 1:12 left in the first to make it 5-1 in favor of the Pioneers.
- A defensive battle for the first nine minutes of the second, Sara Spielman and LeBeau went back-to-back to come within 5-4. After a Sanders goal, Lara Finnie scored as time ran out in the half for a 6-5 Smith lead.
- Hawk quickly put Smith ahead 7-5 in the third before Wheaton generated three goals to give the visitors their first lead of the game at 8-7 heading into the final period
- Smith won the draw control to open the fourth and Jennie Arancio (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) sprinted down the field and tied the game at 8-8. After a Wheaton score, Smith rattled off three consecutive goals to go up 11-9 with 4:25 left. Abigail Mountin brought her team within one, 11-10, with 1:37 on the clock and LeBeau tied the game with 17 seconds left in the game.
