Lacrosse Defeats Clark, 18-7

WORCESTER - The Smith College lacrosse team pulled away for an 18-7 win over Clark University in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) showdown on Saturday afternoon. 

By the Numbers
  • Tschider totaled five goals, while Jennie Arancio (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge), Gia Arancio (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge), and Jordan Hoffman (Portland, OR/Jesuit) scored two apiece
  • Bella DeAngelo (Portsmouth, RI/Moses Brown School) added three ground balls and three caused turnovers
  • Shannon Houtenville (East Windsor, NJ/Highstown) and Brooke Testa (Pittstown, NJ/Delaware Valley) split the game and combined to make two saves
  • Smith outshot the Cougars 31-13 and forced 36 Clark turnovers.

Game Highlights
  • Erin Lucas opened the scoring for Clark less than a minute into the game and then Kyra Hawk (San Jose, CA/The Harker School) and Sadie Tschider (Piedmont, CA/Piedmont) went back-to-back less than two minutes apart. Clark evened the game before Tschider took a feed from Giar Arancio to hold a narrow edge, 3-2 after the first
  • Smith outscored Clark 12-3 over the second and third quarters to hold a 15-5 lead after three quarters of play
  • The two squads went back-and-forth throughout the fourth period ending with Abi Rusalavitch (Portland, OR/Jesuit)'s second career goal for Smith
