NORTHAMPTON - No. 7 Smith basketball grabbed its 10th consecutive win by taking down Babson, 57-50, inside Ainsworth Gym on Wednesday night. The duo of
Ally Landau (Livingston, NJ) and
Hannah Martin (North Andover, MA/North Andover) combined to score 34 points to help the Pioneers improve to 14-1 on the year and 2-0 in the NEWMAC. Babson dips to 8-8, 0-2 NEWMAC.
Inside the Numbers
- Landau finished with 18 points, four rebounds, four blocks, and two steals
- Martin added 16 points and four rebounds
- Jane Loo (Saratoga, CA/Saratoga) contributed seven points, seven boards, and three assists
- Babson held a 31-28 edge on the glass and received 18 points from the bench
- Smith shot 40.7% (22-of-54)Â from the field, 47.1% (8-of-17) from three-point range, and 62.5% (5-of-8) from the free throw line

- Smith jumped out to a 14-3 lead in the first on Martin's three-pointer. Babson quickly responded and got to within five (16-11) before Landau knocked down a triple to make it 19-11 at the end of one.Â
- Jane Loo's (Saratoga, CA/Saratoga) trey with under 10 seconds in the half put Smith up 35-27 going into the break
- The Beavers outscored Smith 21-11 in the third and grabbed their first lead of the game with 1:07 remaining on a three-point play from Julia St. Laurent. Babson's advantage grew to four points as the visitors entered the fourth ahead 48-46.Â
- Smith's defense limited Babson to just two points in the fourth as the hosts went on to win 57-50
