WORCESTER - The Smith College swimming and diving team had another successful day at the NEWMAC Championships hosted by WPI.
MIT tops the field with 1113 points, while Coast Guard moved into second with 506 points. Wheaton is in third with 449 points while Springfield is fourth with 416 and WPI is fifth with 303. Babson (301), Wellesley (300), Smith (220), Mount Holyoke (145.5) and Clark (140.5) round out the field.
Meet Highlights
- The Pioneers kicked off the evening session with an eight place showing in the A Final of the 200-yard medley relay. The quartet of Wang, Emma Schultz (Hyattsville, MD/Elizabeth Seton), Parv Bonyadlou (Williamsburg, VA/Warhill), and Madeleine Lucas (Salem, MA/Salem) swam a combined time of 1:53.31. Smith's B team of Caitlin Waldner (Salem, OR/West Salem), Grace Magee (Portland, OR/Oregon Episcopal), Maddie Milla (Nyack, NY/Nyack), and Bebe Cosgrove (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) was 18th in 1:55.91
- Wang continued their impressive weekend by representing Smith in the A Final of the 100 Fly, posting a ninth place time of 57.91
- Shifting to the 100 breaststroke, Schultz swam in the consolation final and finished 14th in 1:10.05
- Magee touched the wall 18th in the consolation final of the 400 individual medley in 4:48.39 and was 20th in the 100 back in 1:03.44
The 2025 NEWMAC Championships wrap up on Sunday at WPI with preliminary competition at 10:00 AM and Finals at 6:00 PM. Sunday's events are the 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, 1650 Free, Women's 3-Meter Diving, and the 400 Free Relay.
