NORTHAMPTON - The Smith College lacrosse team rallied in the second half, defeating Hartwick 18-12 on Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers improve to 3-2, while the Hawks dip to 1-2 on the year. 

Top Performers

• Sadie Tschider (Piedmont, CA/Piedmont) scored six goals with one assists, while Kyra Hawk (San Jose, CA/The Harker School) added four goals and two helpers
• Caroline Sanders (Orange County, CA/Santa Margarita Catholic) recorded three goals, one assists, and six draw controls
• Shannon Houtenville (East Windsor, NJ/Highstown) made nine saves and earned the win in 60 minutes of action
• Leigh Hillmanno (Yardville, NJ/Princeton Day School), Jenna Paczkowski (Jupiter, FL/Choate Rosemary Hall), Jordan Hoffman (Portland, OR/Jesuit), and Caroline Weyhrich (Boise, ID/Boise) each finished with two caused turnovers

Game Highlights

• Hartwick jumped ahead early, building a 5-3 lead early in the second period
• A Sanders goal with 5:31 left in the second quarter tied the game at 5-5 and each team would score twice more for a 7-7 halftime score
• After a back and forth third quarter that featured two ties and two lead changes, Tschider found the back of the net twice in the final minute to take an 11-9 advantage into the fourth
• Smith rolled off a 6-0 run midway through the final period as they cruised to the win
