NORTHAMPTON, MA - The quartet of
Ella Sylvester (Everett, WA/Everett),
Jazmyn Washington (Los Angeles, CA/Birmingham Community Charter),
Ally Landau (Livingston, NJ) and
Hannah Martin (North Andover, MA/North Andover) of the Smith College basketball team garnered Academic All-District honors as selected by the College Sports Communicators and announced by the organization last week.
Academic All-District recognizes student-athletes for their performance both on the field and in the classroom. The four will now advance to the Academic All-American ballot.
Ella Sylvester (Everett, WA/Everett)
- Appeared in all 34 games last year, starting in 33 of those 34, helping Smith reach the National Championship for the second straight year.
- Averaged 9.3 points per game and 5.1 rebounds per game as well.
- Doubles majors in Statistical and Data Sciences as well as Psychology.
- Scored a career high 23 points in a win over Emerson on Febraury 19th.
Jazmyn Washington (Los Angeles, CA/Birmingham Community Charter)
- Served as captain of the team
- Appeared in and started in all 34 games this year, helping Smith reach the National Championship for the second straight year.
- Scored a season high 13 points in a win over Williams.
- Will be graduating in May with a degree in Biology.
Ally Landau (Livingston, NJ)
- Appeared in and started in all 34 games this year, helping Smith reach the National Championship for the second straight year.
- Averaged 14.4 points per game alongside 6.1 rebounds per game.
- Named WBCA 1st Team All-American, as well as D3hoops.com All-American.
- Currently enrolled in the Master's of Teaching Program at Smith.
Hannah Martin (North Andover, MA/North Andover)
- Appeared in and started in all 34 games this year, helping Smith reach the National Championship for the second straight year.
- Averaged 12.6 points per game to go with 2.6 assists per game.
- Named NEWBA 4th Team All-Region
- Currently majors in Biochemistry.
Smith finished the year 31-3, reaching the National Championship for the second consecutive year.
