Fleming, Schultz Named to NEWMAC All-Sportsmanship Team

March 12, 2026

Marlborough, MASS. - The NEWMAC is proud to recognize the Sportsmanship honorees for the winter season. The NEWMAC Sportsmanship Team is intended to recognize one student-athlete from each team, in every sport, who best demonstrates the ideals of the NEWMAC and its Code of Conduct, regardless of their overall performance or statistics for the season.

The honorees, selected by their respective coaching staffs, have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior that go above and beyond the sport's playing rules and etiquette.

Smith's winter recipients include Maggie Fleming from basketball and Emma Schultz from swim & dive.

Fleming appeared in 30 games for the basketball team, averaging 3.9 points and 1.9 rebounds with 29 assists and 20 steals to help Smith capture its sixth-straight NEWMAC Championship.

Schultz was a member of the 400 medley relay team that set the school record at the 2026 NEWMAC Championships. Schultz and the Bears totaled 492 to finish in sixth place, Smith's best finish since 2008.

The winter sportsmanship team is comprised of 38 student-athletes in the sports of men's and women's basketball and men's and women's swimming.
