NORTHAMPTON - Smith swimming and diving announced their tri-captains for the 2026-27 season. The trio of Simran Jayasinghe (Valley Center, CA/Homeschool), Maddie Milla (Nyack, NY/Nyack), and Emma Schultz (Hyattsville, MD/Elizabeth Seton) will lead the squad. The trio this past season helped the Bears go 9-3 during its dual meet season before finishing in sixth place at the NEWMAC Championships. In 2026, Smith established 17 new top-five performances.

Simran Jayasinghe (Valley Center, CA/Homeschool) '27 - Biochemistry: "I am grateful for the trust my teammates have placed in me, and am honored to help lead this team in my final year. Smith Swim & Dive has been a central part of my time at Smith, and I have been incredibly lucky to have experienced how this team shows up for one another, pushes each other, and celebrates both tradition and new experiences. I'm excited to help foster that environment next year, and am especially looking forward to team dinners, traditions, and building on our incredible energy!"

Maddie Milla (Nyack, NY/Nyack) '27 - Astronomy: "I feel honored to lead this team next year, and I'm deeply grateful that our team trusts me to help guide us to success. Swim and dive has made my time at Smith truly special, and I'm so excited to give back during my final year. I cannot wait to return to my teammates after a semester abroad! Next year, I'm especially excited for big and little bananas, team dinners after practice, and to compete alongside such an incredibly hardworking group."

Emma Schultz (Hyattsville, MD/Elizabeth Seton) '28 - Hyattsville, MD - Physics: "We've had so much success this past year because of everyone's hard work and dedication. I am excited to bring more positive and encouraging energy to stay competitive in the conference and continue growing the team culture. SCSD has brought me so much joy, and I love that I will be able to return that in a more impactful way!"​​​​​​
