NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--Sophomore Mackenzie Bradley won the 1000 yard freestyle and the 500 yard freestyle as Smith College fell to Springfield College 173-122 in their home opener on Saturday afternoon.

The relay team of Robin Currens, Ariel Orr, Lily Seidman, and Lenora Walter finished second in the 400 yard medley relay to open the meet with a time of 4:25.46.

Bradley then dominated the 1000 yard freestyle, finishing in 11:15.11, 22.08 seconds in front of Jenna Callahan of Springfield, the second place finisher.  Emma Reim added a second place finish in the 200 yard freestyle in 2:04.97, and Siedman and Walter ran 2-3 in the 100 yard backstroke, Siedman finishing less than one second out of first with a time of 1:05.26, and Walter just .34 seconds behind in 1:05.60. 

Ariel Orr turned in a second place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke, with her 1:14.03 time just .19 seconds out of first place.  Bradley added to her two firsts with a third place finish in the 200 butterfly in 2:29.55.

Alexis-Clair Roehrich, coming off a 197.95 score at the Spears Relays last week, improved her one meter diving score to 211.20 to finish second. 

Lenora Walter (Santa Ynez, Calif./Santa Ynez Valley) and Robin Currens (Frederick, Md./Gov. Johnson) topped the field in the 200 yard backstroke, with Walter recording a first place finish in 2:20.54, and Currens right behind in second place with a time of 2:23.09. 

Bradley took the 500 in fine style for her second win of the day, posting a 5:28.07 finish that was just ahead of teammate Emma Reim (Ledyard, Conn./Ledyard), who took second in 5:34.65.  Seidman added to her day with a second place finish in the 100 yard fly, finishing with a 1:05.01 time.

The Pioneers will hit the road on Tuesday, Nov. 16 for the short trip to Chicopee to take on Elms College.  The meet is slated to start at 7 p.m.
