Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – Host Clark scored a pair of goals a little more than five minutes apart late in the second half to rally for a thrilling 3-2 win over Smith College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's soccer action on Friday afternoon.
 
With the win, the Cougars improve to 4-7-1 and 2-2-1 in league play, while the Pioneers drop their ninth consecutive contest, dipping to 1-9 overall and 0-5 in conference action.  Seven of the nine losses have come by one goal. 
 
The Pioneers opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Dalyn Houser (Atlanta, Ga./Galloway) pushed a loose ball past Cougar keeper Audrey Eisemann for the early 1-0 lead.  It was Houser's first goal since October 6, 2007, when she netted against WPI.
 
Clark answered back in dramatic fashion seconds before the half ended. With time winding down, Emma Lynch beat her defender up the left side and sent a cross to a wide open Afra Danai who deposited her team-leading third goal of the season into the back of the net with just ten seconds remaining in the period.
 
Smith moved back ahead a little more than ten minutes into the second stanza when Aidan Hitt (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) sent a free kick into the box that Meredith Peck (Plymouth, N.H./Holderness School) headed home high over the outstretched arms of Eisemann at the 55:34 mark.
 
The Cougars began mounting their rally when Jenna Zarou launched a direct kick from 30 yards out into the upper half of the goal that Pioneer netminder Lindsey Gregor (Bradenton, Fla./Southeast) was unable to reach, evening the score at 2-2 in the 79th minute.
 
A little more than five minutes later Hana Chamoun sent a ball into the box that Lucia Pantuosco was able to head home past a diving Gregor for the game-winning goal at 83:47.
 
Despite the three goals allowed, Gregor was outstanding in net and at one point turned back a pair of point blank Clark shots in the first half to keep the Pioneers ahead. She finished with 12 saves, while Eisemann stopped three shots to pick up the victory.
 
Now 2-1 on their current four game home stand, Clark will return to action on Wednesday when they step out of conference play to host Lasell, while Smith, who has dropped their last three games by a combined three goals, will be off until next Saturday when they travel to Wellesley.
