NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The Smith College soccer team (2-2, 0-0 NEWMAC) will look to carry on the good momentum when the Pioneers open their NEWMAC slate at home against longtime rival Mount Holyoke (0-3-1, 0-0 NEWMAC) on Saturday afternoon.
Last Meeting: The Lyons came to Northampton and posted a 3-1 win over Smith on September 17, 2011. Mount Holyoke opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, then scored twice in two minutes in the second half to put the game away.
Jenn Chang (Seoul, South Korea/Wilbraham & Monson) scored a consolation goal for Smith in the 81st minute.
Last Smith Win: Ellie Theurer (Gainesville, Fla./Oak Hall) opening the scoring in the fourth minute with an unassisted goal, then set up
Emily Peake (Penobscot, Maine/George Stevens Academy) for a second tally later in the first half.

Mount Holyoke Overview: The Lyons have lost three straight, including a 9-0 loss to No. 7 Amherst College on Wednesday night. Mount Holyoke opened the season with a 1-1 tie against Nichols College, but has been shutout the last two games in the three game losing skid.
Smith Player to Watch: Aidan Hitt (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) set up two of Smith's goals against Lyndon State, and has been a starter on a defense that has allowed just three goals in four games.
