Game Preview: Soccer vs. Springfield

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The Smith College soccer team (4-5-1, 2-1 NEWMAC) plays consecutive home games for the first time since the opening week of the season when the Pioneers host No. 24 Springfield College (6-3-1, 2-0-1 NEWMAC) on Tuesday afternoon.

Last Meeting:  Springfield scored 12 seconds into the game on their way to a 2-0 win on September 22, 2012.

The Series: Springfield leads 13-11-2, having won the last six matchups all by shutout.  Seven of the 26 matches between these two have gone to overtime, with Smith holding a 4-1-2 advantage in those games.

Fast Facts:  The Pride are coming off a scoreless, double-overtime tie against Babson...Springfield is undefeated in overtime games this year, at 2-0-1...The Pride are in a stretch of six of seven games being on the road...No-one on the Springfield roster has scored more than two goals...Smith has Jordan Houston (Logan, Utah/Logan)'s header with 33 seconds left lifted Smith to a 2-1 win against Coast Guard on Saturday...Houston has a team high six goals, the most since Ellie Theurer '12 scored six in the 2010 season...the last person to score more was when Dalyn Houser (Atlanta, Ga./Galloway) netted 11 in 2007...Smith will also be looking to win consecutive league games for the first time since 2007.

Next Up:  Smith travels to Emerson College on Saturday for a 1 p.m. matchup.  Springfield will head to Wheaton College for a re-match of last season's NEWMAC Championship game.
