SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Smith College divers turned in a strong performance Tuesday evening in a 171-117 loss to Springfield College. The Pioneers drop to 2-2 on the season, while Springfield improves to 1-1.
ResultsThe divers swept both boards finishing 1-2-3 with Elyse Stone (Westborough, Mass./Westborough) winning the 1-meter (276.14) and CeCe Arrison taking first in the 3-meter (277.28), while Anna Partridge (Seattle, Wash./Mercer Island) finished third in both. Stone picked up two NCAA qualifying scores while Arrison added one. Julianna Alvord (Ivoryton, Conn./Ivoryton) improved her score on the 1-meter and added two new dives to her arsenal. Hannah Searles (Newton, Mass./Newton North) continues to improve with scores significantly better than last season at this time.Abby Onos (South Portland, Maine/South Portland), Hannah Francis (Chicago, Ill./Walter Payton Prep), Tyra Wu (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad) and Margaret Anne Smith (Spring Lake, N.J./High Technology) all had season best splits in the 200 Medley Relay.
Onos also placed third in the 100 back with a season best time of 1:08.06, while Wu had an excellent meet with two season bests, finishing third in the 200 back (2:24.21) and second in the 200 IM (2:25.11).
First-year Desi Stoyanovich (Bulgaria) touched first in the 200 IM in 2:23.03 and finished second in the 1000 free (11:10.65) and 500 free (5:33.19)
Michaela Stamm (Lexington, Mass./Cambridge School) continued to improve as she dropped her time again the 200 breast (2:47.22) and teammate Hannah Francis (Chicago, Ill./Walter Payton Prep) took time off her 200 breast to 2:44.05, while Chloe Harris (Alexandria, Va./Alexandria) had season bests in the 1000 free (13:21.24) and 500 free (6:20.98).
Carolyn Taylor (Dallas, Texas/Hockaday School) had a season best in the 200 free and very good first swims of the season in the 200 back and 200 IM.
Smith will return to action when they host Elms College Tuesday, November 17 at 7:00 p.m.
