Game Preview: Basketball vs. Wentworth

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - The Smith College basketball team will look to head into the Thanksgiving break on a high note when the Pioneers (1-2) host Wentworth (2-1) Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Last Meeting: Last season's 48-44 loss was the first meeting between Smith and WIT. After falling behind by as many as 14 points, the Pioneers fought back to pull within four, but the Leopards held on to win on November 25, 2014. Samantha Alakai (Pukalani, Hawaii/Punahou School) scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Mandy Castro (San Diego, Calif./Poway) netted 10 points, dished out six assists and tallied four steals.

Series History:This is just the second meeting all-time between these two schools. Wentworth leads 1-0.

The Pioneers: Smith looks to get back in the win column after their 77-55 loss to Keene State on Saturday...In that game, first-year Lauren Bondi (Burnaby, BC, Can./Notre Dame Secondary) led the Pioneers with 11 points and added two assists, while Erin Hanley (San Francisco, Calif./St. Ignatius College Prep) came off the bench to finish with nine points on 4-of-6 shooting...Kennedy Guest-Pritchett (Fairburn, GA/The Lawrenceville School) (11.0 ppg) and Bondi (10.0 ppg) lead Smith in scoring, while Amanda Barriscale (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais) is averaging 8.0 rebounds per contest...the Pioneers score 69.3 points per game, while shooting 39.6 percent from the field and 28.3 percent from 3-point range.

The Leopards:Wentworth Institute of Technology is coming off a 58-33 win over Lesley in the consolation game of the Gordon College Tournament...senior guard Rachael Camara scored a game-high 19 points on 6-for-9 shooting, all from behind the arc to lead the Leopards...Carly Rogers leads WIT with 16.3 points per game and 8.0 rebounds per contest...Wentworth averages 51.3 points per game, while shooting 35.8 percent from the field and 39.0 percent from long distance.
