NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - Smith College Director of Athletics & Recreation Kristin Hughes has announced that Courtney Jaworski has been named the Director of Track and Field/Cross Country, Head Coach Track and Field at Smith College.

A 2006 graduate of Penn, Jaworski returns to Smith after a successful stint as the head coach of women's cross country and associate head coach of Women's track & field at Dartmouth from 2014-2021.

Prior to Dartmouth, Jaworski served as the coach for both the cross country and track & field teams at Manhattanville. From 2006-2008, he enjoyed a successful running career with Nike's premier Olympic development distance and middle-distance team, Oregon Track Club Elite.

"I am very excited to welcome Courtney back to Smith Athletics," said Hughes. "He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to this position. I look forward to supporting his vision for this program and watching our student-athletes develop and thrive under his leadership."

Jaworski was named the 2014 Ivy League Cross Country Head Coach of the Year and guided the Big Green to three NCAA Championship appearances in 2014, 2017 and 2018. In total, Jaworski coached three All-Americans, 12 First Team and 11 Second Team All-Ivy League performers, 12 cross country all-region honorees and 26 NCAA Qualifiers.

A 2013 graduate of the Smith College Exercise and Sport Studies program, Jaworski spent time as an assistant coach with the Pioneers from 2011-2013 and reunites with current cross country coach Ellen O'Neil who is a 1987 graduate of Dartmouth. 

Jaworski fills the position left by Adrien Ricci's departure and will begin working with the Pioneers in July.
