Sanders and Hawk Earn All-NEWMAC Honors

NORTHAMPTON, MA - Following the conclusion of the season, Caroline Sanders (Orange County, CA/Santa Margarita Catholic) and Kyra Hawk (San Jose, CA/The Harker School) of the Smith College lacrosse team were named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Team, the league office announced on Wednesday. 

This is the first career All-Conference honors for both Sanders and Hawk.

Hawk appeared in all 18 games for Smith this season. She scored 61 goals and had 25 assists. Kyra led the way in the NEWMAC with 3.39 goals per game. She broke the school record for single season points. Hawk also eclipsed the 100 career point mark. 

Sanders had a career year for Smith in the midfield during her junior year. She played in 17 games for Smith, starting all 17 of them. She had a career high in goals (41) and career-high in assists (25) as well. Sanders also reached a few career milestones throughout the season, including 100 career goals and 100 career points. Caroline also broke the school record for most draw controls this season. 

Their impressive play allowed the Pioneers (10-8, 6-4 NEWMAC) to earn the No. 5 seed in the NEWMAC Tournament.
