NORTHAMPTON - The Smith College track and field team has earned All-Academic Team recognition from the USTFCCCA for 2024-25, and five Bears have earned All-Academic Athlete honors. Smith's cumulative GPA was 3.76.
In order to qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have compiled at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average and have competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship, or finished the regular season ranked in the top-50 nationally in an individual event or in the top-35 in a relay event.
Smith's individual honorees were:
- Lena Baker (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit North), Government
- Serena Britner (Hampton, CT/St. Bernard), Environmental Studies
- Shams Ferver (Barre, VT/U-32), Psychology
- Pria Parker (Hingham, MA/Hingham), Chemistry
- Lyda Martin (San Antonio, TX/Lee), English
Smith's DMR team of Baker, Britner, Ferver and Parker placed 11th overall at the NCAA Indoor Championships this past winter, while Martin ranked fourth in the mideast region in the 1500. The Bears finished sixth at the NEWMAC Championship and 14th at the New England Division III Championship.
