NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – For the first time in their storied career, Smith College senior Lyda Martin (San Antonio, TX/Lee) will take to the national stage this weekend at the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships.
The two-day event, hosted by the Southern Athletic Association and the City of Birmingham, kicks off Friday, March 13, at the world-class Birmingham CrossPlex in Alabama.
The Road to Birmingham
Martin punched their ticket following a historic indoor campaign that saw them consistently move up the national performance list. Their qualifying time of 4:51.59, set at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in February, shattered the previous school record and positioned them as the No. 12 seed in a field of the country's top 20 milers.
Meet Schedule
Martin's championship weekend begins Friday afternoon with the preliminary heats. The field will be narrowed down to the top 10 runners (the top four from each of the two heats, plus the next two fastest times) for Saturday's national final.
