BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Smith College senior Lyda Martin (San Antonio, TX/Lee) capped off a historic indoor season on Friday, earning USTFCCCA Second-Team All-American honors in the 1-mile run at the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

National Stage Performance

Competing against the premier middle-distance talent in the country, Martin clocked a time of 4:53.38 in the preliminary heats. The performance placed them 7th in their individual heat and 14th overall in the national field. By finishing in the top 16, Martin becomes the latest Bear to cement their name among the elite tier of Division III student-athletes.

A Season for the Record Books

Martin's All-American finish is the exclamation point on a senior campaign defined by shattered records. Earlier this winter, Martin rewrote the Smith College record books at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
