NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The return to the postseason for the Smith College volleyball team (21-7) is also a return to Cambridge for the second time this season when the No. 5 seeded Pioneers take on No. 4 seed MIT (21-10) in a NEWMAC quarterfinal on Tuesday night. Admission is $4 for adults, $2 for seniors, and $1 for students, and children under the age of 12 are admitted free of charge.
Regular Season Result: MIT notched a 3-0 (9-25, 12-25, 19-25) win over Smith on September 28, 2013.
The Series: MIT leads, 49-16. There have been 10 meetings between these two schools in the postseason, most recently in 2005, when No. 4 seed Smith upset top-seeded MIT to advance to the NEWMAC tournament final. Smith went on to beat Coast Guard for the NEWMAC championship and reach the NCAA tournament.
