Last Meeting

Smith split the non-conference doubleheader with Amherst on April 15, 2015. Amherst took game one, 6-2, before falling 7-6 in the nightcap. In the win, the Pioneers pounded out 11 hits as three student-athlete tallied multi-hit games. 

All-Time Series
In a series that dates back to the 1997 season, Amherst leads 20-11. Smith is 4-8 at home and won 7-of-9 meetings from 2002 to 2008. 

Amherst
At 13-5, the Purple and White are coming off a doubleheader split with Hamilton College in NESCAC West action on Saturday. In that game, Amherst defeated the Continentals 11-2 in five innings, before falling in game two, 9-5. In those game, Lauren Tuiskula paced the Purple and White's offense going a perfect 5-for-8 at the plate with three runs scored and an added RBI. Jackie Beuchler improved her record to 2-0 in the circle allowing no runs on just two hits. Lorena Ukanwa boasts an impressive 6-1 record with a 2.38 ERA in 53.0 innings pitched while Kyra Naftel is batting .484 with 30 hit and nine RBI. Jessica Johnson is in her second season as head coach of the program.

The Pioneers
Smith (8-12) is coming off a NEWMAC sweep of Wellesley College. The Pioneers pounded out 18 hits and received complete games from Natalie Burchat (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) and and Rowan Turner (Prairie Village, Kan./Shawnee Mission East) as Smith rallied for a 10-9 win in game one and 5-1 victory in game two. Turner was on fire at the dish throughout four games last week, batting .714 with 10 hits and leads Smith with a .387 batting average and 24 hits.  Junior Allison Snyder (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) has recorded a hit in seven consecutive games for the Pioneers and leads the team with14 RBI.
