SERIES HISTORY
vs. MIT
Smith and MIT will meet for the 69th time overall in a series that dates back to 1977 . The Pioneers are 16-52 against the Engineers, who have won the last 11 meetings. 

vs. Simmons
Smith and Simmons will meet for the fourth consecutive season in a series that began in 2012. Smith leads 3-2. 

SCOUTING MIT
The Engineers (10-3, 3-0) won eight in a row before their 3-0 loss to UMass Boston Thursday evening. In that game, senior Megan Gebhard and sophomore Abby Bertics both posted nine kills for MIT while freshman Shea Landeene tallied seven kills, a. 455 hitting performance, and two blocks. Senior libero Tori Wuthrich tallied 50 digs and contributed to a defense that limited opponents to a .120 hitting percentage as the senior was named NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week. Gebhard ranks second in the conference in kills per set (3.50) and is hitting .271 this season while sophomore setter Christina Liao leads the NEWMAC in assists per set (9.19). The Engineers were selected to finish second in the Preseason Coaches Poll. 

SCOUTING SIMMONS
The Sharks (3-5) enter competition coming off a 3-1 loss to Anna Maria. In that match, first-year outside hitter Morgan Weeg spiked for a career-high 23 kills and added 18 digs in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest. Weeg is fourth in the GNAC in kills per set (3.42) while teammate Alex Itasaka is third in the conference, averaging 4.74 digs per set. 

SCOUTING SMITH
The Pioneers (2-8, 0-4) enter Saturday's tri-match looking to rebound from a 3-0 loss against Springfield College on Thursday. First-year Kimani Freeman (Newark, N.J./Montclair Kimberly Academy) led Smith with four kills and sophomore Maca Rojas (Santiago, Chile/Liceo No. 1 Javiera Carrera) finished with 10 assists, eight digs and two service aces. Rojas averages 5.63 assists per set and classmate Julie Voorhes (Ramona, Calif./Ramona) leads the Pioneers with a 4.56 digs per set average. Smith was picked to finished 10th in the NEWMAC Preseason Coaches Poll.
