THE SERIES
The games marks the 42nd meeting between the two programs, dating back to the first contest during the 1982 season - a 3-2 Smith victory. The series, led by the Ephs 23-18, took a hiatus from 2006 through 2017.
LAST MEETING
Williams swept the series on April 9, 2005. The Ephs opened with a 6-5 victory and completed the sweep 3-2 in the nightcap.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
The Smith College softball team snapped a 10-game losing streak on Saturday with their doubleheader win over Emerson Saturday. The Pioneers recorded 31 hits and three home runs in a 6-1 victory in game one and 16-5 win to complete the sweep. Sophomore

Brittney Blokker (Seattle, Wash./Ballard) leads the team hitting .370 with 10 doubles. Junior
Rowan Turner (Kansas City, Kan./Shawnee Mission East) and senior
Natalie Burchat (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) split the pitching duties for Smith. Both are 4-9 on the season with Burchat owning a 4.46 ERA while Turner's earned run average is 6.06.
SCOUTING THE EPHS
Williams looks to get back to the postseason in 2017 after their NESCAC Championship and NCAA Regional a season ago. The Ephs return Mackenzie Murphy and Lexi Curt both of whom were All-Conference and NFCA All-New England selections in 2016. Murphy is batting .385 with 35 hits and 21 RBI while Curt is hitting .424 with 39 hits and 30 RBI. Williams enters today's series on a 13 game win streak. Sophomore Jessica Kim batted .533 in a 4-0 week for the Ephs. She went 8-for-15 with one triple, one home run and two RBI while scoring six runs and stealing a base. Her on-base percentage was .533 with a .837 slugging percentage for the week. In addition, at shortstop, she handled 11 chances (5 putouts, 6 assists) without making an error. Sophomore Mackenzie Murphy was 2-0, allowing seven hits over 8.2 innings. She did not walk a batter and fanned seven batters in the two games. In a relief appearance at MCLA, she threw 3.2 innings and allowed only one hit while striking out fiv in a 9-2 win. The reigning NESCAC Pitcher of the Year is 6-4 with a 3.58 ERA in 56.2 innings.
