FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

• The Pioneers open New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action Saturday at Coast Guard.

 

• Smith last won their NEWMAC opener during the 2008 season.

 

• Sophomore Meghan McGrath has gotten off to a hot start this spring, hitting .556 with 10 hits and six runs scored.

 

• Freshman Sydney Arendt was named NEWMAC Pitcher of the Week after going 2-0 in 13.1 innings of work, holding opponents to a .240 batting average and a 0.53 ERA.

 

• Senior outfielder Emma Hvozovich is batting .458 with 11 hits and 13 RBI (3rd in NEWMAC) this season.
